How Do They Do It about medicinal cannabis

Dutch Presenter Joep van Deudekom starts his report with a humorous undertone: ‘We Dutch are of course world renowned for our cheese, and water management’, referring to the Dutch dikes and the fact that a large part of the Netherlands is below sea level. He continues: “We are good at underwater excavation and of course our national pride: Cannabis. Weed.”

But the report is not about the famous coffee shops, and the products that are consumed, but about medicinal cannabis. “And by that I do not mean an illegally-powered crop in a barn somewhere. No. Completely legal and super high tech”, Van Deudekom continues.

The How Do They Do It? presenter then makes it exciting by referring to the fact that the location of Bedrocan was kept secret until recently, to keep prying eyes out: ‘The location of this company used to be top secret. They didn’t like snoopers. Don’t get me wrong: everything that happens here is legal. But it can still be a sensitive subject. Until recently, cameras were kept out of here. But not for us.’

Standardised medicinal cannabis

Joep van Deudekom visited the Dutch facility in Emmeloord where standardised medicinal cannabis is produced. Standardisation means that the cannabis that comes out of the facility has a constant composition and quality. In addition, the product is guaranteed free of heavy metals and pesticides and is microbiologically pure. ‘So cannabis of the highest quality. No wonder the producer of this super cannabis had to operate in secret for the first few years’, says Van Deudekom in his commentary.

The report goes into more detail about Bedrocan’s production method that has not yet been matched by anyone. To guarantee medicinal cannabis with the right quality and dose, Bedrocan has developed an advanced cultivation method, which is top secret, but in the report the How Do They Do It? team is allowed to lift the veil a little.
